White Plains is in an out-of-the-way location on Oahu’s West side and, because it’s so far from Waikiki and other resort areas, few tourists visit. There’s a large parking lot and a lot of space on the beach, so even on crowded weekends you can usually find a great spot.
- This is a popular spot for those learning to surf because the waves are small but rideable and there’s a sandy bottom.
- Monk seals commonly beach themselves on the sand here! They’re protected, so lifeguards rope off an area around them. Enjoy the seals and take pictures from a distance.
- Those in the military can rent surfboards, stand up paddleboards, snorkel equipment, and even cabanas at White Plains!
