Waianae Range

Landmarks
  • Waterfalls spill off the Waianae into Makaha Valley.

Dating back nearly four million years, the Waianae Mountain Range is the oldest part of Oahu, and its heavy-shouldered volcanic remains anchor the western side of the island. With over 100 ridges, the mountains offer excellent hiking with beautiful scenic vistas.

Highlights

  • Mt. Ka‘ala (4025 ft.) is the highest point on Oahu.
  • There is a sizable Native Hawaiian population on the Waianae Coast.
  • The western flank of the Waianae is home to ancient Hawaiian burial caves.
