Few modern-day figures have been as wholly beloved and revered as Duke Paoa Kahanamoku. The “Ambassador of Aloha” was a hero many times over for his feats as a waterman. His statue, circa 1990, offers a physical manifestation of a spiritual presence that will never leave Waikiki.
